An exciting introduction to this printmaking medium, this course uses both Intaglio and Relief techniques to create colourful, textured and embossed prints.
The course begins with a short talk showing samples, prints and blocks to illustrate the potential of the medium.
Thin card is used as a base for the block onto which fine textures, e.g; lace, net, corrugated card and so forth, are attached using PVA glue to create an abstract or narrative image.
The block is then protected with Button Polish, inked up in colour or black oil based ink and printed on the Electric Etching press.
More than one course will be needed to develop imagery using some of the more advanced techniques and multiple blocks.
If experienced in the medium, there is an opportunity to learn how to use Carborundum to further develop your images.
Suitable for beginners and experienced artists. Small class size – 4-6 people
